Dog & Cat Adult Weight Range Guide
Choose dog or cat, then search a known breed or type to compare your pet’s current weight with a typical reported adult range. For adult pets only, not growing puppies or kittens.
A breed range is a reference, not an ideal-weight target.
Use the breed only when it’s known
For mixed or unknown dog ancestry, choose Mixed-breed Dog. For cats without a known breed, choose Domestic Cat. Don’t choose a look-alike breed based only on size or appearance.
Check body condition before changing food
Weight ranges don’t show body fat or muscle condition. Use a hands-on BCS guide and ask your veterinary team to confirm BCS and muscle condition before substantial calorie or feeding changes.
Find a dog weight range
Search a known breed or choose Mixed-breed Dog when ancestry is mixed or unknown.
Start typing to narrow the list. Common nicknames such as Lab, Aussie, Yorkie, and Frenchie also work.
Find a cat weight range
Search a known breed or choose Domestic Cat when breed is mixed or unknown.
If your cat doesn’t have a known breed, choose Domestic Cat rather than a look-alike breed.
Breed ranges are population references. Frame size, muscle, age, sex, health, and individual conformation can all affect an appropriate weight.
